About us

The Center for Strategic and international Studies(CSIS) was formed in March2012. The major objective of the formation was to address the needs of a research/teaching institution which could assist in the transformation of our country’s new area.
CSIS as a research/teaching institution was envisioned to provide the human resources and capabilities which would be needed in all aspects of the transformation of our country from a centrally -planned economy/military-ruled administration towards a multiparty democratic form of governance with a market-oriented economy.
These major changes would entail multi-disciplinary needs in all aspects of the transformational processes. As a first step to fulfill this role, CSIS had conducted a two months Post Graduate Certificate Course on Political Management in (PGCCPM) starting from June 2012. Since then, successive similar course have been conducted and nearly 2000 graduates have passed through this Course.
The participants of these Courses are drawn from a board spectrum of registered political parties, local NGOs/CBOs and interested INGOs.
The next course was an eight months Post Graduate Diploma Course in Political Management (PGDPM). This was a result of the graduates of the PGCCPM who wished to pursue further in-depth studies of the topics imparted at the Certificate level. Two batches had graduated from the PGDPM . CSIS then conducted a short one month course on Public Policy. Since the inception of the various courses, CSIS had made arrangements to have the courses with off-shore accreditations.
This resulted in the Cambridge Academy of Management of the United Kingdom recognizing CSIS as its Myanmar center of teaching. The next accreditation was with the Alders gate Collage of the Philippines.
To further enhance the capabilities of the graduates of CSIS’s courses, Masters-level Courses are now also being conducted at CSIS. Professional Studies in Political Management(M.P.M), Public Administration (M.P.A) as well as Business Administration(M.B.A) classes are being conducted with the  course contents and curricula being tailored to meet the country’s needs and context.
CSIS is also taking steps to train researchers, in-country, as well as abroad. Some research fellows have submitted research papers on the critical sectors of the transformation processes.
